Since the news of the establishment of Six new federal colleges of Education in Nigeria came to the public glare months ago, following an approval by the federal government – the exact location & seat for the one coming to Osun State has been a serious contest among political top shots in the state, with many lobbying it for their towns.
Some of these towns are Ila-Orangun being championed by Fmr. Gov Bisi Akande, Gbongan town through a Federal house of Rep member, and many more like IWO where one of the Federal Representatives that sponsored a bill for a need for a Federal College of Education in the state also comes from. Others are Iragbiji the home of the sitting governor – Gov. Isiaka Gboyega Oyetola, Ikire home of the deputy governor – Benedict Adegboyega, among many others.
Well, the die is now casted, IWO township wins the day as Federal Ministry of Education Abuja officially notifies the state ministry of Education in Osun of their approval and grant of the new college in the town. In a letter dated April 16th 2020, the FG education ministry officials promised to pay a visit to the town on May 11th for onward site work .
