In what looks like an emergency visit to the ancient Oyo town, against the backdropped of the recent Ekiti traditional council disagreement, where the governor queried some 11 kings for insubordination, and Oba Lamidi Adeyemi Alaafin of Oyo wrote the governor back on the need for him to tread gently on the issue to avert future dethronement of traditional rulers like that of Sanusi and many in the past – it appears the governor has taken Alaafin’s letter more serious. The governor shared this on his twitter account.
Governor Kayode Fayemi arrived Alaafin’s palace hours ago, today Sunday 15th, March and their discussion seems to be more around the letter written as shown in one of the pictures where Oba Adeyemi was showing the governor a copy of the letter written.
Oba Adeyemi addressed many issues in the letter, by going down the memory lane on the history of the kingships grouping in Ekiti, since the days of the Pelupelu 16 Ekiti kings in 1941/1947.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of Ekiti traditional council, the Alawe of Ilawe Ekiti, Oba Ajibade Alabi has equally written the governor of Oyo state Engr. Seyi Makinde on the need to restrain Alaafin on dabbling on issues beyond his terrain.
Would this visit finally put a stop to the degenerating Ekiti traditional council brouhaha???
Well, only time will tell.
Meanwhile, reactions have continued to trail the visit, with some commending the governor for being an Omoluabi while some others have condemned the act, as grossly unnecessary.
